Categories of HAPS key services
At the moment, to upgrading the current cellular infrastructures in Malaysia requires the installations of several thousand new base stations. A reasonable time line for this to occur is about 10-15 years to achieve this.
Despite the oftentimes expensive exercise of building base stations to increase coverage, many hard-to-access areas will simply remain outside the effective coverage area. Economical and physical obstacles are the main market restraints in this aspect.
This is where HAPS can play a very important role through the shorter deployment time period, and also the significantly lower cost to roll out, operate, and maintain in the long term.
